Erlene Harris

Erlene Harris, 82, of Amarillo, Texas entered into rest on December 17, 2019 surrounded by loved ones.

Erlene was born in Littlefield, Texas on July 31, 1937 to Joseph and Johanna Young. She married Glen Elvin Harris January 23, 1956 at Anton, Texas.

Erlene was a loving and faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She dedicated her life to taking care of others including, not only her own children, but also numerous foster children. She assisted her husband, life-long partner, Glen in all of their business endeavors. She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and many others.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Elvin Harris; daughter, Lovetta Gayle Harris; twin infant daughters, Carol and Cheryl Harris; and brothers, Loren Young and Martin Young.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Glen Harris and wife Laurie, of Pueblo West, CO, and Michael Daniel Harris, of Meridian, ID; brothers, Jody Young, of Sunray, TX, Ernest Young, of Manassa, CO, Ronald Young, of Lubbock, TX, and Tony Young and wife Sandra, of Amarillo, TX; and sisters, Sue Strickland, of Amarillo, TX,  and Loretta Bales and husband Earl, of Neosho, MO; seven grandchildren, Trampos, Seth, Cooper, Brody, Skylar, Morgan, and Blayke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 20, 2019 at White Deer Cemetery with Matt Bales officiating. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 20, 2019, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Pastor Bob Miller officiating and Pastor Vondel Stevens reading the eulogy and sharing family history. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

  1. Sue and Family, I am saddened by this great loss. She really not lost she just changed her address to Heaven.
    She was A grand lady.
    She was and is very elegant and A Class Act. She never complained and she was always gracious. Heaven gained A amazing Lady. I know Glen and Lovett’s met her as she entered Heavens Gates.
