Gail Cariker Melban, 69, of Dumas, TX passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox.  Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Gloria Gail was born in Dumas, TX on July 31, 1951, to Turner Allison and Beulah Marie Thomas Cariker. For the first few years of her life, she grew up at the Phillips camp and then resided in Dumas. She was raised as the youngest of eleven children. On March 5, 1999, she married the love of her life, Sid Melban. They shared a passion for golf where she played barefooted alongside her beloved dog, Trixie. She was a woman of many talents including nursing for many years and eventually retiring as a beautician where she was also an instructor. She loved to cook and was famous for her recipe for oatmeal that her boys love. Also in her mischievous ways, her favorite holiday was Halloween where she was everyone’s favorite witch. Her most favorite of times were when all her kids were around, playing games, and making sure everyone followed the rules. Her laughter was contagious especially when she was around her sisters. Other than her kids, one of the things she was proud of was her Choctaw heritage. She was a devoted wife, mother, MoMo, and GiGi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Turner Allison & Beulah Marie Thomas Cariker; brothers and sisters, Dot Cariker, Irby Thomas, Tink Cariker, TA Cariker Jr., Doyle Cariker, Jane Cariker Parker, and Leon Cariker

She is survived by her husband, Sid Melban; their dog, Trixie; children, Tammy Holdeman of Turpin, OK, Dusty Thomas and wife Stella of Dumas, TX, CP Thomas and wife Valerie of Dumas, TX, Shelby Melban of Mooresville, IN, and Shayne Melban and wife Jayna of Amarillo, TX; three brothers, Duck Cariker, Frank Cariker, and Ace Cariker; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

So very sorry to lose Gail, she was such a delight on Face Book with all of her comments, pictures and wit and humor and love for family and friends . . .Have known her from time she was young mostly from Dumas swimming pool . . she loved to swim and dive and her brother Butch and I worked at the pool together as basket boys when Spann and Coulter ran the pool so Gail was there a lot . . also, she was a golfing nut and I knew her from golf . . .Prayers for Sid and all the entire Cariker family for your loss !!!! . . God Bless !!!!

  3. I met Gail through golf and always enjoyed competing against her. She was a fun , vivacious person . I pray for comfort for her family and all those who loved her. It was a blessing to have known her.

  9. I met Gail when she was 10 years old. She was the cutest girl ever. I looked forward every day to see the clever things she posted on Facebook. On holidays she decorated everything including Sid and Trixie. When she entered Heaven on Valentines Day, I’m sure she had on a heart costume to meet the Lord.
