Garrett Ray Pendergraft

Garrett Ray Pendergraft, 63, of Amarillo, TX passed away on August 22, 2022.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday. August 26, 2022, at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Jim Shelburne officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Garrett was born in Amarillo, TX on March 26, 1959, to Marcia and Jack Pendergraft. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1977.  Garrett received his bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 1982 from Texas Tech University.   He worked as an Architect for Dekker/Perich/Sabatini for 22 years. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Texas Society of Architects. Garrett’s notable works that he contributed to include the AQHA museum, the BSA Ware Tower, the Texas Tech School

of Pharmacy as well as many buildings on the main Texas Tech campus, and many regional hospitals and community buildings.

Garrett married Lezlie Turrentine in Amarillo, TX on March 2, 1985.

Garrett was a longtime member and Elder at Washington Avenue Christian Church which he also helped remodel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Pendergraft;

Survivors include his wife, Lezlie Pendergraft; sons, Trey Pendergraft and wife Reagan, and Laef Pendergraft and wife Tessa; granddaughter, Presley Marie Pendergraft; Mother, Marcia Pendergraft; and sister, Mary Ann Stephens and husband Chris along with many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M., Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

  8. Garrett was one of the finest and most honorable men I have ever known. He is an example for all men and I have been enriched to have known him. He and Lezlie have raised two awesome young men who have made their father and mother proud.
