Gary Kleiber was born in Lubbock, Texas on December 30, 1962 to Edward and Frances Kleiber. He graduated amongst many life-long friends at Monterey High School and later continued his education at Wayland Baptist University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education.

Kleiber managed at many great companies including United Supermarkets, Lowe’s Home Improvement Center, Sears, and KCI Medical before he became a financial advisor at Thrivent Financial. Gary worked hard and played hard too. He enjoyed going on adventures, spending sunny days hiking at the canyon, having a cold one with friends, and collecting horny toads. More importantly he enjoyed giving back to his community, providing for his children, and finding a way to improve the lives of others on a daily basis. He was a Board member at the AAYC Community Center and served on the Board of Christian Education at Trinity Lutheran Church where he found his heart dedicated to finding an avenue for students to attend their school.

Kleiber was diagnosed on October 10, 2016 with glioblastoma multiforme. He displayed great courage and optimism when facing his disease. The last two years of his life were filled with many belly laughs and warm memories that will carry our father, brother, friend, and colleague in our hearts forever. He is survived by his three daughters, Ashley Kleiber, Karlee Kleiber, and Katee Kleiber; his two sisters, Ruan Samuels and Brenda Atkinson; numerous relatives, many friends, and his cat.

Kleiber is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gary Kleiber Jr.; and his siblings, Linda Glenn, and Ralph Kleiber.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church and the Texas Oncology Foundation. The family of Gary Kleiber wishes to thank the staff of Texas Oncology and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their dedicated care.
