
Gary Wayne Woodburn, 83, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79109.
Gary was born December 28, 1939, in Wallace, NE to Ralph and Bertie Woodburn.
Gary married Janice Davis on September 10, 1960, in Holdridge, NE.
He worked for Tyrrell Marxen in a General Motors dealership as the manager of the parts department. He loved his job and was rewarded with many trips, which he and Janice enjoyed.
He loved spending time with his boys, they spent lots of time camping, hunting, and fishing. He served also as their Cub Scout Leader. He was a constant supporter of their activities. They could always look to the sidelines and see their dad whenever they played sports. He was a great dad.
If you were his friend, you were his friend for life. He truly never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Michael Davis; a brother, Ralph Woodburn Jr.; and sister-in-law, Georgina Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Woodburn, of Amarillo, TX; two sons, Mark Woodburn, of Cottonwood, AZ, and Matt Woodburn and wife Colleen, of Waddell, AZ; three sisters-in-law, Beth Moore and husband Russell, of Amarillo, TX, Debbie Littleton and husband Bob, of Lantana, TX, and Gay Davis, of Carlsbad, NM; a sister, Cora Bell Truitt, of Omaha, NE; and two grandchildren, Logan Woodburn, of Waddell, AZ, and Rory Qualls, of Columbus, GA.
Gary was as genuine as his smile. He was friendly to all. My uncle, Mike Alvey, knew l was good friends w Gary’s son, Mark. Uncle Mike would always ask how Gary was doing. God bless Gary Woodburn & his family.
Great Man. I always admired Gary’s approach to life and appreciated his point of view. He was strong and solid in a quiet way. He will be missed.

Gary was a good friend to David and myself, I’ll miss him as I know you and your family will.
We had many years of fun together as friends and I’ll treasure them forever.
