Gaston was born on December 27, 1931, in Clarksville, Red River County to Jim and Ethel Williams. While in high school he was the running back for the Wellington Skyrockets. He worked at the local drug store at the soda fountain where he received his nickname, “Soda Sippin’.” It was in high school when he met the love of his life, Joyce Dell.

On June 24th, 1951, he married Joyce Dell Wood. In 1954 he moved his young family to Amarillo, Texas where he would start Williams Ditching and continue to grow his family.

Gaston was a man of few words but will be remembered as a man of his actions. He dedicated his life to God, his family, his work, and customers. Each and every day he worked to be a better man. He worked at knowing God a little bit more than the day before. He worked at making his family stronger. He worked to take care of his customers.  He is the rock or “foundation” of his family, Williams Ditching, and the Williams Group.

Gaston Williams was preceded in death by his father Jim Williams, his mother Ethel Williams, his two sisters Ruth and Louise, his brother Chester Williams, and his loving wife Mama Joyce Williams.

He is survived by his four children Hope Hodge, Fanchun and Kenny Little, Perry and Nancy Williams, Shylan and Carl Birdsong, eight grandchildren Sunny Hodge-Campbell, Seth and Lindsey Williams, Lexis and Sam Schwarzlose, Noah and Jamie Williams, Orry and Tayrsa Birdsong, Arielle and Adam Blanchard, Shylana and Tyler Enos, and Eden and Ethan Walker, seventeen great-grandchildren Ellen Campbell, Stone and Sydney Williams, Addelyn and Asher Schwarzlose, Andrew, Will, Benjamin, and Zoe Williams, Taven Birdsong, Bennett King, John Thomas, Henry and George Blanchard, Levi and Luke Enos, and Beau and one on the way, Wells Walker. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Vicky Harris, nephew Johnny and Amy Harris and their children Landon and Lexi.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the wonderful caregivers.
