
Glenn Thomas Kirscht, 85, of Canyon, Texas passed away on October 25, 2023.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.
Glenn Thomas Kirscht was born October 10, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado to Peter and Erma Kirscht. He attended Irving grade school, Thatcher middle, and Centennial High School all in Pueblo. Glenn joined the workforce after completing high school and soon decided to serve his country in the military. He joined the Air Force in August of 1958 completing “boot camp” at Sheppard AFB in Texas. Glenn spent his Air Force career touring England, South Dakota, Nevada, California, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Virginia and in 1978 retired back to Colorado.
His specialty while serving was electronic computer maintenance, and flight instrument repair. Glenn met and married Shelby Jean Hughes early in his military career where they adopted one child and had another while stationed in South Dakota. He lost Shelby, his first wife in December of 1977 just before his retirement. He married Mary Ellen Burdiss in 1978 enjoying life until her death in 1998. Noticing that his electronic skills were in demand after retirement, he opened a business of his own, Mile High Cash Register until his second retirement in 1997. Glenn didn’t marry again but spent time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at his home in Missouri as well as his home in Sherman, Texas. He joined an assisted living community in 2022 until his death.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Erma Kirscht; brothers, Jim Kirscht, and Leo Kirscht; two spouses, Shelby Jean Kirscht, and Mary Ellen Kirscht; a son, George Edward Coy; and two grandchildren.
Glenn is survived by a sister, Janice Claxton of Denver, CO; brothers, Bob Kirscht of Denver, CO, and Sam Kirsch of Gulfport, MS; his children, Rita Underwood of North Platte, NE, Teresa Fetting of Denver, CO, Judith Lynn Johnson of Aynor, SC, and Peter Michael Kirscht of Canyon, TX; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
