Glenna was born March 7, 1931, in Sedan, New Mexico to Leonard and Lola Sphond, dryland farmers.

She grew up and attended school in the Clayton, New Mexico area and attended College in Portales, New Mexico. She worked for the US Bureau of Mines as a payroll clerk.

She married Willa Lloyd Scott in 1959 resided in Amarillo and shared 4 children together, three sons and a daughter.

Glenna was a busy matriarch of her family, volunteering at the church and holding leadership positions in TOPS club and working full time at the plumbing company she owned with her husband.

She dearly loved her church, friends, TOPS club, teaching Sunday School, studying the Bible, donuts and coffee, toast and jelly, dominos, canasta, and her clown collection. When she couldn’t attend church, she watched services on TV. She loved to work at the shop she ran for 60 years and even after it closed, she continued to work there doing accounting and going to work nearly every day until mid-2020.   She was a voracious reader and loved Western Romance books and her Bible!

She was involved with helping put together her family reunion for years, and she loved organizing the events to celebrate the history of her family and bring them all together.

Glenna was a Christian woman who never spoke badly of anyone.    Until her health and inability to walk made it impossible, Glenna was an active Sunday School Teacher and taught women’s Bible class. She knew her Bible so well and attended church at Hillside Christian Church.

Glenna loved celebrating birthdays, especially her own! She just celebrated her 91st birthday and she was so happy to eat her cake and open presents, she asked for her favorite cake with coconut and she was all smiles. She especially loved Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holidays and making it special for everyone. If someone extra ever showed up at her house during Christmas, there would always be a wrapped gift in the top of a special closet that she’d retrieve so her guest wasn’t left out. Even in her later years when she was no longer able to walk and stand in the kitchen, she always wanted to know if she could help do anything during family gatherings.

Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses:

Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She was the loving & devoted mother of: Rebecca Stirneman of Cleveland, Texas, Richard Scott of Amarillo, Texas, deceased, Russell Scott of Amarillo, Texas, deceased, and Robert Scott and his wife Lori Scott of Amarillo, Texas.

She will always be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members by marriage, extended family and many good friends, employees, colleagues and clients.

When notifying friends and family of her passing, one said, “She had such a precious soul, possibly the kindest lady on the planet.”

She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Lola Sphond, her three sisters Genieve Sphond, Eileen Underwood, Nina Darnell, her husband Willie Scott, and sons Richard Scott and Russell Scott.

She was cared for daily for the last nine years in her home by her son Robert Scott and granddaughter Maggie Scott. Her daughter Rebecca also came home for months at a time to Amarillo to assist in her care.

Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her long life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
