Hal R Ward, 77, of Vega, Texas passed away on July 21, 2021.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega with Jim Watkins officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Vega.
Hal was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 10, 1944, to Charline and Ewell Ward. He graduated from Vega High School in 1962, attended West Texas State University, and later earned an associate’s degree from Amarillo College.
Hal married Judy Harle in Boise City, Oklahoma on May 16, 1966. They raised three kids, Todd, Tye, and Holly in Vega.
Hal loved many things: Learning new things, fishing, hunting, sitting on the front porch listening to music, and telling stories were among a few of them. He was never against rolling up the rug and dancing around the living room. He was always up for a good laugh, and more often than not, had a smile on his face. He relished spending time in the mountains and sleeping under the stars. He always had an appreciation for all of God’s creations and just marveled over them. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Vega.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Harle Ward of Vega, Texas; sons, Todd Ward and wife Cristal of Munster, Texas, and Tye Ward of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Holly Helzer and husband Roger of Edmond, Oklahoma; twin brother, Dal Ward and wife Jo of Flower Mound, Texas; brother, Tim Ward of Sunray, Texas; sister, Jan Britten and husband Howard “Hop” of Groom, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Morgan Bebout and husband Seth, Cy Ward, Grant Ward, Whitt Ward, Lauren Helzer Stemm and husband Christian, John Helzer, and Jaxon Helzer.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations are made to the Milburn-Price Culture Museum, P.O. Box 377, Vega, Texas 79092.
