Mr. Harvey “Jack” Ashley of Amarillo, TX, passed away peacefully at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX, on December 5, 2022, while surrounded by his family. Born on October 30, 1970, in Belleville, Illinois, Jack and his siblings were raised by their parents Willie and Helen. He grew up in Amarillo, TX, where he and his brother Dennis enjoyed many fun antics and adventures they laughed about later as adults. He graduated from Randall High School in 1988 and began his career as a finance manager for various companies. Later on he pursued his interest in hair design and received his cosmetology degree.

When people think of Jack Ashley, they immediately envision him laughing and smiling. He had the best laugh and found humor in most every situation. He truly loved to make people laugh, and he brighten the room wherever he went. Jack was a fun loving, lovable person, and he adored nothing more than his family, especially his four-year-old granddaughter, Jaklyn.

Jack was considered a foodie; he loved to cook and appreciated delicious food. One of the ways his daughters will remember him is through the love language of food, and they will be found saying, “Dad would have loved this!” He also enjoyed movies and entertainment and was a huge fan of the sitcom “Schitt’s Creek”. Jack always gravitated toward the water, whether it was splashing his daughters or granddaughter in the kiddie pool when they were little or relaxing at the nearest lake.

Jack will be remembered for his loving, accepting attitude toward everyone, his big heart, his kindness, his goofy humor, and the protective love he wrapped around his family and closest friends, especially friends Dalton and David. He would help anyone in need and do it with a smile on his face. He was that type of person we all love and need more of in our lives—the one everyone wanted to be around and spend time with because he made you feel loved, appreciated, and understood.

Jack Ashley is survived by his three daughters, Samantha Ashley of Craig, CO; Jessica Moss and husband John of Amarillo, TX; and Miranda Ashley of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by the love of his life, granddaughter Jaklyn Mick. Jack is survived by his mother, Helen, and two siblings:  Kathy McLean of Fort Worth, TX and Dennis Ashley and wife Mary of Amarillo, TX. He is preceded in death by his father, Willie. Jack’s family expresses their thanks to the medical team at Northwest Texas Hospital for the medical care and concern they extended toward Jack and his family.

There will be a private family ceremony to honor Jack’s life later in 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you enjoy some fried chicken—his favorite food—in his memory or make a donation to the charity of your choice.
