J.P. Hart passed away on March 7

, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas having lived 86 years and having a fulfilling life.

J.P. was born in Hedley, Texas on May 10

th

, 1935, to James Pleasant and Lollie Hart. He was the oldest of five children. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marines and served for 4 years. Later in his life, he rejoined the service, this time for the U.S. Navy. While serving in the Navy, he had the opportunity to live in several unique places: San Diego, California, Great Lakes, Illinois, and Sasebo, Japan. J.P. Hart and Alda Hamilton were married on February 23

, 1957. They were the loves of each other’s lives and were married for 65 years until Alda’s passing on March 1

st

, 2022.

J.P. was a caring father, dedicated husband, and a strong man. He is survived by his son, Gary Lee Hart; daughters, Lela Faye Schmidt, and Lori Ann Gioia; grandchildren, Amanda Driscoll, Matthew Schmidt, Kristina Inglis, and Derek and Madison Gioia; great-grandchildren, Hallie Davis, Alexander and Skylar Lewis, Zachariah Driscoll, Tatum Inglis, and Annabel Schmidt; and great-great-grandson, Christian Lincycomb.

While in the Navy and out at sea, he loved fishing off the side of the ship and sailing. J.P. enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with mechanics, and practicing locksmithing. He loved his children and sharing his hobbies with them. Being a mechanical man, he appreciated motorcycles and vintage cars. He had a Harley Davidson that he loved riding and would give his family rides on.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19

th

, 2022, at Family Life Church, 3900 SW 58th, with Kelvin Hamilton officiating in Amarillo, Texas.
