Jackie Gene Hughes, 90, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Pastor Gary London of Messiah’s House officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jackie was born May 12, 1932, in Crawford, OK to Green J. and Bertha Hughes. He married Betty Collins on June 25, 1947, in Dumas, TX, and loved her deeply. They were married for 75 ½ years
He retired from Natural Gas Pipeline Company. In his spare time, Jackie enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Johnny, Estelle, Donald, Fidelle, Anna Lee, Jackie, Claude, and General; and two grandchildren, Jackie and James Hughes.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hughes, of Amarillo, TX; children, Jack Hughes and wife Sharon, Anita London and husband Gary, and Ricky Hughes; a sister, Mildred Clawson; grandchildren, Cheryl Hill and husband Jerry, Leighann Sexton and husband Ritchie, Stacy Chavez and husband Andres, and Joshua London; great-grandchildren, Kayla Birch and husband Kenny, Summer French, Asher Sexton and wife Karis, Zayne Sexton, AnnaLeigh Sexton, Maya Miller, Hannah Chavez, and Lily Chavez; and great-great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob Birch, Kendall Sexton, Judah Sexton, and Hazel Miller.
