James D. Brown

James D. Brown, 75, of Amarillo, TX died May 5, 2020.

Memorial services will be at a later date.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jim was born August 8, 1944, in Cyril, OK to Charlie and Wanda Brown.  Following graduation from high school he attended Draughns Business School.

He worked for Amarillo Fire Department before owning and operating several businesses in Amarillo.

Jim enjoyed all sports especially Senior World Series Poker. Jim loved playing pool, golfing, hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include three sons, Karl Brown and wife Stacie, Paul Brown, all of Amarillo, TX, and Colby Brown and Kimberly, of Pampa, TX; a daughter, Amanda Hunter and husband Tim, of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Dale Brown and wife Libby, of Albuquerque, NM, and Charlie Brown of Lakewood, CO; a sister, Carolin Melton and husband Neil, of Bonham, TX; and five grandchildren, James Brown wife Janea, Travis Brown, Christian Hunter, Ashton Hunter, and Andrew Brown.

  1. You will be missed Jim , I remember you from alot different places I bartended at in my younger years in Amarillo. You were a very nice man with big dreams. God Speed Sir Jim.

  3. I just now learned of Jim’s passing. I covered his pool tables for a couple/few years.He helped me out any time I needed it and he knew Id be there in a second if he needed my help with anything. We shared a very dry sense of humor, and he had good jokes. Rest easy Mr. Brown in your tight whites on that big couch in the sky, where they carry all the games.

  4. Honored by having a chance to meet him and get to see his beautiful smile that made my troubles fade for a moment. I am sorry for the loss. He has been missed and will continue to be. I a relieved he is No LONGER SUFFERING. Most of ALL I PRAY FOR ALL THOSE WHOM HE LEFT BEHIND FOR COMFORT AND PEACE, IN JESUS’ PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN.

  7. My husband and I used to work for Mr. Brown at JRs pool palace and he was always such a sweet and honest man! We are very saddened by his passing but are very happy that he is no longer suffering! Rest easy Mr. Brown! Our prayers are with his friends and family!
