James Dee Houston, Jr.

James Dee Houston Jr., 81, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 2, 2022.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

James was born in Lamesa, TX on September 4, 1941, he attended school in Klondike, TX and played football in high school. He worked at the Dodge Dealership in Lamesa shortly after graduating. In 1969, he moved to Amarillo, TX and managed Refrigeration Supply and Electric and Westbrook. He moved from that on to the role of General Contractor.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Dee Houston Sr., and Oleta Houston; his brother, Johnny Houston; as well as his daughter, Diann Blankenship.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eva Houston of Amarillo, TX; and his two sons, Gerald Johnson of North Richland Hills, TX, and James Dee Houston III of Amarillo, TX. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 9  great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
