James E. Smith, 82, of Stratford, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Stratford Cemetery with Michael Rinne, pastor at First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors at Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
James was born on October 8, 1940 in Dalhart, Texas to J.W. Smith and Jane Martha Ringo Smith. He had owned and operated Smith & Smith Water Well for many years. He enjoyed shooting guns in his free time.
He was a hard worker and loved spending time with his family, dogs, and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
James married Mary Livingston on October 25, 1963 in Keyes, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife Mary L. Smith; a son, Cary Smith and wife Laura; two daughters, Brenda Cromer and husband Aaron and Cindy Smith; seven grandchildren, Kristin, Chad, Justin, Jared, Ryan, Adrian, and Andria; and sixteen great grandchildren.
