James Garcia Flores Sr., 73, of Amarillo, TX passed away on March 20, 2023.

Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023, at

 Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

James was born on July 29, 1949, in Seadrift, TX to Antonio and Victoria Flores. James proudly served in the United States Army from September 1970-April 1971. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his outstanding meritorious service in connection with military operations against hostile forces in Vietnam. James married Lupe on May 17, 1968, and together they spent over 54 years. James loved to make people laugh, he loved spending time with family and dancing with his daughters and granddaughters. He was a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys and all genre’s of music knowing every song. James was the biggest fan of his children and the time he spent fishing with his son.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and 6 brothers, Frank Flores Sr., Samuel Flores Sr., Albert Flores Sr., Basilio Flores Sr., Joe Flores, and Johnny Flores Sr.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Lupe; brothers, Antonio Flores Jr. (Ninfa) of Irving, TX, Rudy Flores Sr. (Mary) of Bakersville, CA, and Joe Lee Flores (Gloria) of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Elvira Mesza (Alfred) of Plainview, TX, Emilia Driscoll of Amarillo, TX, and Victoria Torres (David) of Amarillo, TX; children, Susie Garcia (Ramiro) of Hart, TX, James Flores Jr. (Debbie) of Chapin, SC, Terrie Flores and Kyle Hanes of Amarillo, TX, Brenda Jaramillo (Emanuel) of Amarillo, TX, and Marissa Flores of Amarillo, TX; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
