James Myron (Jim) Standifer

James Myron (Jim) Standifer, age 95, died January 8, 2024. He was born January 24, 1928 in Merit, TX to Curtis and Mary Standifer. Following graduation from North Dallas High School, Jim immediately enlisted in the Navy, serving during World War II. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad his entire career, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo.

Jim was preceded in death by beloved wife, Lou Standifer.

He is survived by: son Steve, and wife Sheryl of Plano; son Curtis and wife Denise of Cedar Creek; granddaughter Caitlin Standifer of Boulder, CO; grandson Keegan Standifer and wife Shelby of Austin; and stepdaughter Carolyn Winans of Corpus Christi.

Services will be held in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo on Saturday, January 13, 2023, beginning at 10:00 AM. It will be immediately followed by graveside services at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 IH27 South Amarillo, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hope Fund of Baptist Community Services, c/o The Continental at Park Central, 1300 S. Jackson St., Amarillo, TX 79101.

  3. Our hearts are with you as you celebrate and commemorate Jim’s well-lived life. He was such a kind man and we are grateful that he is no longer in pain and reunited with Lou. We are sending prayers of comfort and for the repose of his soul.
