Jerry Coker, 71, of Amarillo, TX passed away August 20, 2020.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 24, 2020, at Washington Avenue Christian Church. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jerry was born in Hereford, TX on October 29, 1948, to Betty and Bob Coker. He graduated from Friona High School.

Jerry married Dee Dee Turner in Summerfield, TX on December 27, 1971.

Jerry worked for many years as an Independent Computer Programmer and for Corporate Systems for 13 years. He was known as OGO, “Oh Great One”, to his grandchildren.

Jerry was very involved in Paramount Terrace Christian Church and Hillside Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Dee Coker, of Amarillo, TX; sons, Brandon Clay Coker, of Amarillo, TX, and Colin Wade Coker and wife Teresa, of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Becca Joy McKnight and husband Jacob, of Lubbock, TX, and Jenna Paige Coker, of Amarillo, TX; brothers, Wade Coker, of Hereford, TX, and Phil Coker and wife Karol, of Hereford, TX; sister, Lora Hanson and husband Mark, of Amarillo, TX; and eight grandchildren, Tessa, Ayden, Chloey, Levi, Aspen, Avery, Lyla Joy, and baby on the way.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, August 23, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

  10. Jerry was a wonderful, spirit filled brother and a blessing to all who knew him. All of my recollections of he and his family are joyous ones. Even in the midst of turmoil he could be counted on to be there, consoling and supporting us. His love was unconditional and his heart was true. Our memories of Jerry and DeeDee are filled with laughter as well as tears. Their imprint upon our hearts are deep and strong. I know the past few years have been a battle for this family. While I am excited that Jerry has received his healing, I am saddened I wasn’t able to hug him one last time before his departure. See you on the other side, brother!

  23. So many wonderful memories of Jerry from PTCC choir and Pageant days. He always had a smile and a good word to share. He was a great man and a great friend to me and, I’m sure, to everyone that knew him. Shalom, my dear friend.
