Jimmy Ray Campbell, 75, of Amarillo, TX passed away on August 19, 2021.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Llano Cemetery.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Southwest Church of Christ, with Mike Borger officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jimmy was born in Coleman, TX on January 16, 1946, to Mildred and Clayton Rawls. He graduated from Ector High School in Odessa, TX. Jimmy earned his bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University. He played professional football with the San Diego Chargers and the Washington Redskins. He became the athletic business manager at WT. He worked for Plains Chevrolet in sales. Jimmy enjoyed real estate investments and loved to travel and do woodworking. Jimmy was an active member of Southwest Church of Christ.

He married Melodee Ann Borger at the Hill Chapel in
Canyon, TX on April 15, 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Melodee Campbell, of Amarillo, TX; and sister-in-law, Robin Johnson and husband Terry, of Amarillo, TX.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M., Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are given in Jimmy’s name to your favorite charity.

  1. One of my favorite people ever. Loved him dearly. Had the pleasure of working with him for more than 20 years. Melodee sending you love and prayers.

  2. Dearest Melodee, Jimmy was such a sweet man. In my family when someone said his name the first words out of our mouths was I Love Jimmy. He was so kind and showed Jesus to everyone who met him. I pray for your comfort and peace. You were a great team for Jesus.

  3. I apologize I’ve been sick, I won’t be able to attend the funeral. But I wanted to offer my condolences, Jim was a best friend to me.

  4. Melodee how precious it has been to get to know you. I love hearing how God brought you and Jimmy together. Such a wonderful love story of a life shared in devotion to one another and serving the Lord together. May God keep those memories fresh as a testimony of His goodness and provision and love for you.

  5. Melodee, we are thankful for knowing Jimmy. He took an interest in our kids with his woodworking skills leaving some wonderful memories.

    I wish I had the right words to tell you that would lighten the load of grief that you’re feeling right now…JJ was a good man, a good friend and, I’m sure, a great husband for you.
    My prayer is that the Lord will be taking care of you until such time as you and JJ reunite in Heaven.
