We are celebrating the life of Jimmy Weller, 81, of Frisco, TX as he passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

His funeral services will be on Monday, December 7, 2020, at 10:00 A.M., in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas, with Pastor Tracey L. Farris officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Jimmy was born on April 1, 1939, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School with a basketball scholarship and loved all sports. He married the love of his life, Vian Weller in 1965, and they have had 55 lively years together. He worked for 36 years at Southwestern Public Service electric company, where they met. His other jobs included refereeing football, basketball, and baseball. For approximately the last 20 years, he has worked at Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas, where he became a blessing to all who encountered him in his golf cart in the parking lots. His love for people, and especially the youngsters, was exhibited daily according to those who knew him.

Family members that celebrate his life are his wife, Vian, and his children:  Kristi Hooten, Mark Weller and wife Niki Weller, and Matthew Weller and wife Michelle Weller; and grandchildren:  Tiffany Utter, Jamie Lester, Tori Weller, Zachary Weller, and Kayley Weller.

To honor him, flowers and gifts can be given to a favorite organization or charity in his name. That would be a living blessing.

  1. He was so awesome. My son tried to get me to do all the wrong things in the parking lot, Mr Jimmy kept me in line with a smile on his face.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing Vian.
    He was a friend of my former husband, Kenneth (Luke) Keeney.
    I remember him always smiling.

  3. I umpired many baseball games in Amarillo with Jimmy in the 1970s and 1980s. He was an amazing man and an excellent umpire. He possessed the perfect demeanor for an umpire. What I remember most about Jimmy is his ever-present “signature smile” and his kindness. My sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace, Jimmy.

  4. My heart goes out to Jimmy’s family. I was greeted by his sweet, kind smile every morning at CHS. I can only imagine how many students’ and staff members’ days were brightened by his smile and caring spirit. On days I didn’t have my ID badge, he was quick to jump out of his golf cart to let me in the building. He would also remind me how many days unti our next break and alert me when there were treats in the mailroom. He was a true gentleman and such an amazing role model for young men. On numerous occasions, he helped me carry things in without even being asked. He wil be missed by so many. I will hold you in my prayers.

  5. My prayers go out to Jimmy’s family for this terrible loss. There wasn’t a day at school that Jimmy didn’t great me with a smile. What a kind man with a giant smile. He made us smile everyday. Jimmy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Peace be with your family.

  6. Vian to the woman who taught me to be strong, lean into that strength and love. To Matt and the rest of the family, I know the loss is hard but God gives us the strength. Even though we will miss him everyday, we know we will meet again. Love and prayers for you all.

  7. Mr. Jimmy was incredible. He was always just trying to do the best for us. I remember bringing him fries back as an apology for sneaking past him off campus during lunch and he just laughed and said thank you for the fries. So very sorry for your loss. He will always be remembered.

  9. Jimmy touched so many lives and his infectious smile lit up the room. I’m so thankful I was blessed by his generosity, his care and his friendship! Thank you for always placing a cone in my parking spot! You are already missed by so many!

As I’m sure you all know, Jimmy was and will always be a treasured part of the high school experience for so many students and parents at Centennial.   11. I only great great stories about my friends getting caught by Jimmy at CHS! Never heard a negative thing about him, and he was good at what he did! Everyone made it a game to see if they could get past the Jimmy the Golf Cart guy! RIP Jimmy!! You’ll be missed dearly!

  12. One of the best men we’ve ever known…his smile and kindness knew no bounds. He will be deeply missed by everyone at CHS. Our condolences to his wife, children and loved ones…he was one of a kind!

  13. Jimmy was a great neighbor and a wonderful friend. Always pleasant and always smiling, he made talking to him a joy that we had the privilege of getting to experience for many years. Vian, please know that you are in our prayers and know that Jimmy will live on in our hearts and minds. Take comfort in knowing that we will see him again in our Lord’s house. What a blessed reunion that will be. Rest easy my friend and know that you were loved by all that knew you.
