Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Llano Cemetery.

Jay was born on September 8, 1954, in Amarillo, TX to Joab Jackson and Barbara Ann Perdue. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1972. Jay married the love of his life, Vicki, on July 10, 1976. He then went on to achieve a Bachelor in Music Education for all levels from West Texas State University (WTAMU) in 1978. Later in life, he was proud to finish his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies.

Jay Perdue was a man of many talents and interests. He was a Professional Musician who, along with his wife, Vicki, owned a recording studio for years. He was a prominent businessman and owner of Perdue Acoustics with Vicki for the last 34 years. Jay was a creative who believed in cultivating witty inventions and ideas, not only for himself but helping others to do the same. He was a successful inventor with 23 plus patents (some pending). Jay spent many years leading worship and ministering to kids in church and outreaches in the community. Jay was a builder: he enjoyed building houses and businesses. When his sons were young, he was always leading Cub Scouts, camping trips, and their various activities.  He held the title of Associate Pastor many times over his life. His love for Children’s Ministry was endless and what some call his true passion. He was currently working on a kids’ gospel TV show called Amarilla Gorilla. He was working with WOWW (a children’s STEM program) and Amarillo College, where he was going to schools in the Panhandle, teaching students about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. He loved serving in the church and one-on-one discipleship. Jay had a heart for the Lord and wanted everyone to know Jesus as he did, thus it was common for Jay to bring people to church that needed to know Jesus. Jay enjoyed the outdoors and you could often find him and his family on the lake in the summer. He enjoyed camping, hiking, boating, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, flying, and traveling with his love, Vicki. He has shared his love for hunting with his sons from the time they were young until their last hunt recently when his grandson joined them. Jay loved a party! Everyone was invited to any party he had. If you know Jay, you know he loved to open his home to people through various home fellowship groups, parties, and church functions. Watching football with his sons, grandson, and Dad was a favorite pastime. Jay loved playing card games, board games, and a family favorite, Faster Five. His 3 grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He never missed an opportunity to play a game, build a train, or provide a piggyback ride.

He is preceded in death by his mother Barbara Perdue and brother James Perdue. Jay is survived by his beloved wife Vicki Perdue; son Joab Perdue and wife Melissa; Grandkids, Joel, Jovie, and Everlee; son Jesse Perdue; Father, Joe Perdue stepmother June; sisters Jacque Thompson and husband Jim, Jennifer Perdue, and Jayna Anglen and husband Russell and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to Jay’s heart for Children’s Ministry, the family requests memorials be donated to Trinity Fellowship Eastridge Kids Outreach at tfc.org/give and/or Kiana’s House (a safe house for kids being placed into Foster Care). Goingglobal.org.
