Joan Marie Lee Bergsma, 82, of Amarillo, TX, died on Friday, July 9, 2021.  A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  with Craig Lawlis officiating.  Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Joan was born on September 8, 1938, to Howard and Louise Blaker in Amarillo.  She married Billy James Lee on August 21, 1956.  They had two children, Barbara and Stephen.  Joan married Lloyd Bergsma on November 16, 1983.  Joan retired from Craig Methodist as the Pharmacy tech in 2005.  She was an avid supporter of WTAMU volleyball, football, and basketball, where she was a fast-break fan.  She was a member of St. Stephen UMC and she was a member of the Bridge Builders Sunday School Class.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Louise Blaker; husbands, Billy James Lee and Lloyd Bergsma; and son, Stephen Lee.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Johnson and husband David; brother, Jeff Blaker and wife Connie; grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Genna Lee Johnson, Steven James Lee, Brandon Lee, Carly Lee Crafton, and Leigha Lee Morrow; and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her extended care home family, Mary and Larry Johnson, Fishanna Johnson, and Brenda Ryan.

  1. Breaks my heart to here of her passing. Such a beautiful, sweet lady. I worked with her at the Craig and visited with her a couple times when she came to Cardiology Center. She will be greatly missed. Prayers to all the family.

  2. Although I never got to meet Joan, I got to know her through her daughter, Barbara. She was a beautiful lady and had a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. My sympathies to the families.
