John Otto McCray, 67, of Afton, OK passed away on December 29, 2022.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at First Church of God, 113 W. Tahlequah Ave., Vinita, Oklahoma, officiated by Rev. Steve Chiles

John was born in Queens, NY on August 6, 1955, to Jean and Robert McCray. He retired from Craig County Sheriff’s Department and was a part-time Pastor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bob McCray; and his brother-in-law, Harold Huguley.

Survivors include his mother, Jean McCray, of Yukon, OK; his brother, Henry (Terry) McCray, of Blairsville, GA; sisters, Kim (Chris) Clemence, of Amarillo, Tx, Suzy Huguley, of Amarillo, TX, and Ann McCray, of Yukon, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to First Church of God, Vinita, Ok, for Route 66 Ministries a ministry near and dear to John’s heart. A special thanks to Rev. Michael Carter and the Vinita congregation for their generosity and love for others.

  1. I’m really glad John was my partner in a family card game this last Christmas before he passed. John was always friendly and full of humor. I enjoyed listening to his adventures of the past, he was definitely someone that enjoyed life. I’ll miss you John.

  2. Life long friend and felt like family. Summer camp counselors were the best! College was just as fun! Will miss his sorry rook playing! LOL love you,man!
