Johnny May

Johnny May, 68, of Amarillo, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church with Bradley Speer, pastor, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Johnny was born on January 2, 1954, in Dumas, Texas to Claud and Mary May.  He was a corrections officer for 17 years and a substitute teacher for 20 years.  He loved playing softball and spending time and teaching the next generation of kids through public education.  His other passions were the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, attending church, and telling a good dad joke.  Above all things, he loved his family and being with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Claudene Rodgers; and a brother, Jim May.

He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Ethridge and wife Amber and Preston May and wife Alyssa; three grandchildren, Cloie, Payslee, and James; and a sister, Charlotte of Russellville, Ak.
