
Johnny Morales, 67, of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 28, 2023.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2023, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. The family invites you for a gathering at 2:30 p.m., at Freedom Baptist Church, 900 Alta Vista following the service. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Johnny was born in Amarillo, Texas on October 18, 1955, to San Juanita Gutierrez and Alexandro Morales. He had 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He was born in Amarillo, Texas where he grew up and attended Caprock High school. He was a 2-time state champion in wrestling. He went to college to further his career. He grew up hunting , fishing, and loved to play pool, he had numerous skills in building storage sheds, play houses, and any remodel. John was a home run hitter for many years when he played softball, he was known on the radio as “Big Johnny”, because of his big hands. He had a passion for grilling and wanted to feed everyone. One of his favorite sayings he said to his nieces and nephews was “go play on I-40 Hombre”. Johnny would spend hours just talking to his wife Jess Ann. Johnny was an awesome grandpa and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Jess Ann Morales; two sons, John Jr., and Robert Morales; daughter in law, Amber Morales; Seven granddaughters; and one great-grandson; four aunts, Georgia Diaz, Maria Lake, Esmerelda, and Esbela Morales; sisters, Cariola Ingurnzo, Linda Eisen, Rosie Wright and Rita Morales; as well as numerous amounts of nieces and nephews. He also had about 10 life friends that he called brothers and sisters but a million of people who he loved and prayed for. He will be truly missed.
