Joseph Bramhall Hoot, 22, of Canyon, TX died Monday, October 31, 2022.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Rick Black officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Joseph was born December 25, 1999, in New Brunswick, NJ to Andrew C. and Brenda C. (Bramhall) Hoot.  The family relocated to Canyon, Tx during Joe’s early childhood, where he was raised and which he considered home.

He was baptized July 11, 2010, and subsequently confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo May 12, 2013.

Following graduation from Ascension Academy, Class of 2018, as a member of the National Honor Society Joe began attending West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX where he was a senior majoring in biology and planning to subsequently pursue a graduate degree in entomology.  He also was a student employee of Jack B. Kelley Student Center and had served as a member of the WTAMU summer staff.

While quiet and shy as a child, he developed into a socially engaged young man with a kind and gentle personality. Joe loved summer vacations at the beach, visiting relatives, spending time with friends and had developed an avid penchant for gaming as a hobby.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ronald Bramhall, Carole Bramhall, and Frank Hoot.

Survivors include his parents, Andrew and Brenda Hoot, of Canyon, TX; his siblings, Alexandra, Thomas, and Robert, all of Canyon, TX; grandmother Marian Cordes Hoot of PA, aunts and uncles, Frank and Sharon Hoot, of MD, Scott and Stephanie Bramhall, of CA, Glenn and Faith Bramhall, of SC, Rhonda Bramhall, of PA, Todd Bramhall, of UT, Kevin and Kim Johnson, of PA, and Dana Bramhall, of FL; and cousins, Paul, Grace, Zac, Ian, Evan, Ben, Sara and husband Tyler.

  1. We cannot adequately express to you how deeply sorry are. Your Joe was such a sweet boy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  2. It is not often that you get to have a front row seat at the growth and development of a human being. When I first met Joe, he was this shy and quiet kid with a tremendous disposition. Over the past several years, I got to see him grown and mature and turn into one of the most genuine, caring, and kind men I have ever met. Joe’s smile and attitude made is all love being around him. While he only worked with me 2 summers the impact that he left on those staffs was immeasurable. We have lost such a wonderful person and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

  4. Although we didn’t know each other for long, Joe holds a special special place in my heart. His passing is heartbreaking and I wish I could have one last laugh with him. Where ever he is, I know he’s happy and resting peacefully. There’s not a day that will go by that I won’t think about him and what a beautiful person he was. I hope that his family and other friends get through this grief and know that there are many people here for them even if they didn’t know them personally. My thoughts and condolences go out to them during this time of healing.

  6. Joe was such a gentle, kind young man when I knew him. When I left on maternity leave the year I taught him, he gave me the sweetest well-wishes. He had a good sense of humor and was beloved by many classmates. If someone teased him a bit, he’d get a little blush from the attention. My heart is so sad to hear of his passing. He certainly left an imprint on my life. My deepest condolences for his family and friends.

  7. Joe always made summers at the beach and visiting our grandparents more memorable. I remember running around the house with our DSs’ and playing in grandma and grandpa’s basement. Joe was a fun and loving person who will be greatly missed. We love you Joe!!

  8. Joe was always making me laugh when we spent time together. I enjoyed every moment with him. It saddens me he’s no longer with us. I truly wish this was all a dream. I love you Joey, you were the best friend I ever had.

  9. There are no words that I can offer to even begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Joe will forever live in my memory as a sweet young man. Praying you guys through this time of profound loss.

  10. Joe was without a doubt the gentlest young man I have ever taught. I always called him “Trouble” because he was never going to be trouble in a classroom. He was a bright light in my life, I’m heartbroken at his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all who loved him.
