Josephine Campos

Josephine Campos, 67, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful follower of her Catholic faith, peacefully departed this world on Saturday, February 24, 2024.  She is now reunited with her beloved husband, son, and daughter in the eternal embrace of Heaven.

The traditional Catholic rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with her nephew, Deacon Tino Frausto as officiant.

Family and friends will gather to honor the memory of Josephine’s remarkable life at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a funeral mass with Fr. Gomez as celebrant.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Josephine was born to Jose and Florencia Frausto on October 27, 1956, in Amarillo, TX, becoming the youngest of the Frausto siblings.  Right from the start, she had this amazing connection with her mom, a bond that lasted until her mom’s passing.

She married Armando Campos, and soon thereafter they began creating their own family.  Josephine was the devoted mother of Armando Campos, Jr., grandmother to Daniel and Jeremiah Campos, and great-grandmother to one.  In addition to her role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a beloved sister to surviving siblings, Raymond Frausto, Benny Frausto, Ricky Frausto, Julia Frausto, and Toni Escamilla.

She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Frausto and Tino Frausto; and sisters, Guadalupe Frausto, Amelia Preciado, Elena Frausto, and Margie Silva.

Josephine, known for her quiet demeanor, had a heart full of love and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.  She was a strong and resilient soul.  She faced life’s toughest challenges, experiencing the heartache of losing her children and husband, yet she never lost her unshakeable faith in God.

A unique and affectionate gesture of Josephine was her tendency to playfully pop people’s knuckles.  This small, yet memorable, act was a trademark of her love and care for those close to her.  It was a simple way she expressed her affection and brought joy to those in her presence.

Family meant everything to Josephine.  In the midst of life’s trials, she found joy in spending time with her loved ones, especially during shared meals filled with laughter and warmth.  Dining out with family created precious memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of being part of those moments.
