Joy Bradley Nicholson passed from the wonderful life she was blessed with on November 23, 2020.

Private services will be held.

She was born Joy Lavern Pettit on October 17, 1927 to father Les Pettit, and mother Juanita Patton Pettit.

Joy spent her childhood in Whitt, Texas, where she graduated from high school in  Joy married Charles Lee Bradley in 1947. They had two children, Clifton and Janet.   Charles passed in 1979 and Joy moved to Austin, Texas, where she worked in banking.

Joy moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1983 and married John Hirston Nicholson, a local geologist.  Joy and John enjoyed traveling and spent time in Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro and cities in Europe.  Joy enjoyed playing bridge and spending time outside gardening.   She was an active member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Amarillo.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Charles and John and daughter, Janet.

She is survived by her son Clifton Bradley and wife Mary of Nordland,  Washington, stepdaughter Jena Butler and husband William of West Tawakoni, Texas, and stepdaughter Judy McCullough and husband Michael of Placitas New Mexico. Also, grandsons Jake Scott Butler and Cody Blane Butler, and great-grandchildren Reagan Marie Butler, Kori Lynn Butler, and William Bear Butler.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to “Olivia’s Angels Hospice Care” or to the 1st Presbyterian Church of Amarillo.
