Joy Charleen B. Yates, 84, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 3, 2022.
Charleen was born to Rosella Clark and Charles Brown in Shattuck, OK on September 25, 1938, she worked as a nurse at the old NWTH on 6
th
St. in the emergency room, retiring in 1984. On August 27, 1955, she married David Yates in Booker, TX at her parents’ home.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Yates; son-in-law, Pat Dolan; and sister, Marjorie Cook.
Survivors include her husband, David Yates; son, Kelly Yates and wife Adina of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Kandi Dolan of Milwaukee, WI; sisters, Ruth Crews of Roswell, NM, and Mary Gayle Mitchell of Corpus Christi, TX; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A service will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX.
