Kenneth Dale McDonald, 72, of Amarillo, Texas died on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on May 23, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Jeff Marco officiating. Military rites will be by Volleys for Veterans. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Kenneth Dale McDonald was born on November 4, 1950, in Amarillo to William and Ola McDonald. He lived in Masterson, TX. for ten years before moving back to Amarillo. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1969. He joined the U.S. Army after graduation. He went to Fort Lewis, WA., then to Fort Lee, VA., and then to Vietnam and Germany. He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Clements Unit and the Neal Unit as a correctional officer after 20 years. He met the love of his life, Merrell, in 2009 and they were married on Sept. 9, 2010. She preceded him in death in 2018.
He is survived by his brother, Bill McDonald and wife Sandy of Plano; a daughter, Jenny Allen and husband Lebern of Gleason, TN., a niece, Amy Hendrix and husband Drew; a nephew, Kris McDonald and wife Elizabeth; and an aunt, Merlene Fritts of Amarillo; uncles, Ernest Kite of Denver, and John Cecil Fritts, of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to ASPCA or First Nazarene Church of Amarillo.
