, 1952, to Gene Edward and Ruby Jean Gunn in Baytown, TX.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

He was a caring father and grandfather who loved his family and would do anything for any one of them. He loved the Lord and instilled his faith in his family. He took care of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by ensuring that they received a daily weather report, the latest bargain deal, and any current recalls on their vehicles.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Larry knew that his life passions were his family and his guitars. He could often be found in his guitar room perfecting his craft. He played rhythm guitar for the contemporary Christian band, Crossfire. When he wasn’t learning more about his music, he enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars, and taking trips to Colorado.

Before moving to Amarillo, Larry was born and raised in Baytown, TX. It was there where Larry would get his first job working for the family business, Gunn Air Conditioning. After falling in love and marrying Brenda Drake, Larry would go on to work as an electrician and a construction worker to support his family. The couple would make their way up to Boys Ranch where they both worked as house parents. They became TDCJ correctional officers and retired from TDCJ.   He was also a deputy sheriff for Oldham and Potter counties for a time.

Larry is survived by his three loving children, Angela Warden and her husband Brent, Cynthia Turner and her husband Jason, and Larry Gene Gunn Jr. and his wife Nancy; two sisters, Pat Erwin and Janet Baker; grandchildren, Jessica, Zane, Aaron, Saren, Brittany, Ali, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Avery, Christopher, Jaidynn, Bryce, and Malerie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Ruby Jean Gunn, and his brother, Michael Gunn.
