Larry “Kevin” Jones

Larry “Kevin” Jones, 58, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2022, at his home after a 10-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M., Monday, December 19, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Arden Road Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Denson officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Kevin was born in Amarillo, TX on January 10, 1964. He was a 1982 graduate of Caprock High School. Kevin wrestled, played football, and played the trumpet in the school band.

Kevin was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age while attending a RA campout with First Baptist Church of Amarillo in Tres Ritos, NM.

Kevin married the love of his life, LeAnn, on August 1, 1986. God blessed them with 2 kids, 4 grandkids, and 36 years together.

Kevin enjoyed a career in the trade his Uncle Gary taught him, home building. Kevin built many homes in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Albuquerque throughout his 40 plus year career.

Kevin enjoyed hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing, and riding Harleys. He had several favorite spots to enjoy his hobbies. Tres Ritos, Red River, Lake Texoma, and Glorietta were just a few of those places that he enjoyed. He and LeAnn enjoyed motorcycle rides to the mountains in New Mexico or to take a quick ride to eat dinner, with his “favorite” sister-in-law and brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Larry Jones and Marilyn Jones; and grandparents, Ray and Beth Jones, and Clarence and Ara Nelle Brown.

He is survived by his wife, LeAnn Jones; daughter, Lindsey and husband Matt Smith; son, Scott Jones and wife Shannon; grandchildren that he adored and gave special nicknames to, Emilee “Sugar Pie” Smith, Aubree “Peanut” Smith, Brady “Tator” Smith, and Mason “Buddy” Jones; uncle, Gary and wife Nancy Jones; and all of his extended family that he enjoyed spending time with.
