Larry Powell, 77, of Dumas, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
A private family gathering will take place. Cremation and arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Larry was born on May 14, 1944 in McLean to Emmett and Goldie Powell. He graduated from Hereford High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served during Vietnam. He had worked for the telephone company over fifty years retiring from Valor. He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed being outdoors. He loved his Lord and family more than anything.
He married Linda George on April 3, 1970 in Dimmitt, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McKinney; and a grandson, London Cortez.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Powell of Dumas; a son, Shan Powell and wife Bette of Lawton, Ok.; a daughter, Jana Powell and husband Toby Mitchell of Dumas; a brother, Tommy Powell and wife Joyce of Mesquite, Tx.; a sister, Linda Powell of Hereford; seven grandchildren, Clayton Powell, Katilyn Powell, Carson Calloway, Drew Seymour, Haevyn Cahoon, and Kaden Cortez; two great grandchildren, Zoee Powell and Zane Powell; special sister-in-law, Joyce Rickerd; niece, D.D. “Peanut” Saunders; and nephew, Woody Rickerd.
