Larry Wayne Venable, 78, of Dumas, TX died on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Bible Baptist Church with Johnny Widener and Jeremy McMorris officiating. Burial will be at the Dumas Cemetery. Military rites will be by American Legion Post #224. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Larry was born on September 29, 1943, in Dumas to Jim and Bessie Venable. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He had worked for Diamond Shamrock over 35 years as a Field Mechanic. He loved to fish and had driven the church bus for Bible Baptist Church for over 30 years.
He married Janie Roberts on August 14, 1965, in Dumas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Farni; sister, Betty Sullivan and her husband Jim; a grandson Trey Tipton; a brother-in-law, Delbert Robertson; and two nephews, Jimmy Byron and Michael McCaskill
He is survived by his wife, Janie Venable of Dumas; son, David Venable and wife LeAnn of Dumas; daughter, Michelle Mahaffee and husband Bob of Spearman; brother, Jimmy Venable and wife Paula of Dumas; sister, Mary Robertson of Dumas; brother-in-law, Tom Roberts and wife Leslie; grandchildren, Shasta Jones and husband Bubba, Sabra Henry and husband Kasey, Savannah Rhoades and husband Austin, Natalie Mahaffee, Gary Griffin and wife Cassie, Brittany Jones and husband Stetson, Brandon Griffin, Tandon Tipton, Tyler Tipton; 10 great-grandchildren, Zackry Grice, Zaelee Jones, Kyler and Kyndle Henry, Creed and Gauge Rhoades, Avery and Haze Griffin, Harlee and Jaxon Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to the Moore County Senior Citizens, 701 E. 16
