Lela Joiner, age 69, passed peacefully on June 3, 2020 in Amarillo, TX.

Lela was born in Amarillo, TX on May 1, 1951 to Gerald and Gladys Parker. She graduated from Canyon High School and had a successful career as a bookkeeper before moving to manager for Ingrams Carpet where she worked for 36 years.

Lela was married to John Joiner on March 28, 1975. They were married for 45 years at the time of her death.

Lela is survived by her husband John, two children Jeremy (36) and Chris (34) and their two spouses Julia and Caitlyn. She loved her five Grandchildren Isabella (9), Alexandra (7), Madison (4), Evie (7) and Nora (4) and one brother Monty May of Guam.

Besides spending time with her family and friends. Lela had a passion to shop, travel, and eat great food. Lela had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her infectious laugh. She touched many lives with her generosity and care.
The Joiner family would like to thank everyone who loved and cared for Lela over her lifetime. We are grateful for your love and support for her. As she meant so much to us and will be dearly missed.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 27, 2020 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo.

  1. Lela was one of my favorite friends at CHS. I remember her as level-headed & kind. Would’ve loved knowing her after high school.

  2. Lela was that friend who always knew what to say to lift your spirits. She will be dearly missed. Lela had this laugh that would make you laugh. We have been friends since we met in 1988 when our boys started kindergarten. She was the friend who would call and we would talk for hours. You will forever be cherished in my heart. Sending my love to John and the boys!

  3. Lela was a good friend from Canyon High School. We had similar families that made us kindred spirits. I lost touch with her over the years. I loved Lela’s smile and laugh. She was a beautiful soul, kind and loving. My condolences to her family.
