Leslie “Les or Pops” Owen Maus, 74, of Amarillo, TX died peacefully on May 15, 2021, with his family at his side.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, with Matt Cordova officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Les was born on August 6, 1946, in Independence, Missouri, to Chester Maus and Mary Eleanor Reams. He graduated High School and went to the service shortly after. He was a veteran who served in the Air Force. He took great pride in serving. He was a true patriot and loved his country.

Les started his career at Firestone and eventually retired from Community Tire in Phoenix, AZ. He loved to serve people and did it with a kind and caring heart. He loved the mountains, gold panning, shooting, off-roading, old westerns, gambling at the casino, and Elvis. Pops loved Texas and after retirement, he moved here to be with family.

Les was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children that include: three sons, Charles Jones and wife Melissa of Portales, NM, Jason Maus of Phoenix, AZ, and Corey Maus of Amarillo, and four daughters, Sherry Cooper and husband Eddie of Amarillo, Susan Harp and husband Darrel of Amarillo, Melissa Duke and husband Lance of Amarillo, and Nicole Maus of Phoenix, AZ. He had 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Les had a blended family with love that included his first wife Sue McGowan and second wife Tricia Webb who remained a special part of his life.

The family of Les wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses that cared for him at the VA, NWTH ICU, and BSA Hospice of the Southwest. The respect and love shown to him was greatly appreciated.
