Services for Linda Gayle Lucas, 77, of Amarillo, TX, will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Rev. Danny Lucas, her husband of 57 years, officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo. The family will gather to receive friends at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106, on December 26, 2022, from 6-7 p.m.

Linda died Tuesday, December 20, 2022, in Amarillo, TX. She was born December 20, 1945, in Lubbock, TX, to Wiley Jordan Pritchard, Jr. and Sallie Allene (Loveless) Pritchard. Linda was raised in Lubbock where she graduated from Lubbock High School in 1964. She married Michael Danny Lucas, September 17, 1965, in Lubbock. Early in their marriage, Linda worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, but after her daughters, Velvet and Veronica, were born, she became a homemaker and mother until her girls graduated from high school.

Linda spent her adult life a devoted mother and wife of a preacher. Linda supported her husband Danny and the congregations they served as he pastored at Carlisle Baptist Church in Lubbock, Bykota Baptist Church in Amarillo, First Baptist Church in Seagraves, First Baptist Church in Shamrock, Southlawn Baptist Church in Amarillo, Lighthouse Baptist Church in Amarillo, and presently at Bolton Street Baptist Church in Amarillo. Linda enjoyed working for over 20 years for the optometry practice of Dr. William Robert “Rob” Chafin where she spent many years as the office manager.

Linda loved Jesus and her family and was a huge Elvis fan. Danny first spotted his beautiful Linda in the third grade. They were high school sweethearts and married shortly after graduating from Lubbock High. Linda and Danny focused their lives and love on their ministry, their children, their grandchildren, and each other. Linda enjoyed riding in classic cars with Danny and listening to 50’s music. Linda spent her final days in the loving care of the staff of The Sycamore at Park Central in Amarillo.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Allene Pritchard, and her brother, Wiley Jordan Pritchard III. She is survived by her husband, Danny Lucas of Amarillo, TX, 2 daughters, Velvet Knight and husband Jared of Amarillo, TX and Veronica Hatfield and husband BJ of Amarillo, TX, and 6 grandchildren, Brenner Nall and wife Chantile, Luke Knight and wife Aubrey, Kolt Washburn, Ben Knight and wife Sara Beth, Sterling Knight, and Ambree Hatfield, and one great-grandson, Danny Blayze Nall. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Amarillo Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 52405, Amarillo, TX 79124.
