Louise Proffitt

Louise Proffitt, 88, of Amarillo, TX died January 28, 2020.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, with Lance Herrington officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Louise was born in Bartlesville, OK on January 19, 1932 to Ed and Bernice Braymer. She graduated from Phillips High School in Phillips, TX in 1950. Louise attended Frank Phillips Jr. College in Borger, TX. She worked for Panhandle State Bank, which became Panhandle Bank and Trust, in Borger, TX. Louise retired from Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, TX in 1989.

Louise married Gene Proffitt on May 18, 1955 in Borger, TX.

Louise was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX. She attended Joy Sunday School Class.

Louise was affectionally known as Babe, Mother, and Mimi. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life! She always asked about her Biddies (great-granddaughters).

Louise loved to play spinner dominos.

We had big laughs with Mimi and her QVC Christmas.

She is preceded in death by her son, Alton Eugene Proffitt Jr.; daughter, Stephanie Messenger; and brothers, Veldon Braymer and Jim Braymer.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Proffitt, of the home; daughter, Teresa Prater and husband Joe, of Amarillo, TX; son-in-law, Mike Messenger, of Amarillo, TX; brother, Richard Braymer and wife Shirlene, of Borger, TX; four grandchildren, Monica Smith and husband Keith, Devin Prater and wife Stephanie, Andrew Messenger, and Angela Messenger; and her biddies (two-great-granddaughters), Whitley and Harper.

Viewing will be prior to the service from 9:00 A.M.-10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.

  1. Uncle Sonny, Teresa & family, I am so so sorry for your loss of Louise. There are no words that I can say at this difficult time but to let you know that I love you all and that I am keeping all of you in my prayers. I so wish that I was able to be there, but I cannot.
