Margarita Vargas

Margarita Vargas, 68, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 3, 2023.

Visitation will be 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. following a rosary after at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 6, 2023, a St. Hyacinth Catholic Church with Father Guadalupe Mayorga as the celebrant. The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Margarita was born in San Luis San Pedro, Mexico on June 22, 1955, to Rafael Acuna and Fermina Hernandez.  Margarita was a beautiful, intelligent, strong, loving women. A precious jewel as many said. Since young Margarita was a business entrepreneur, she establishes her own convenience store while pursuing her career as Fashion Design and High-Quality Sewing in Mexico. She graduated in the 80’s and decided to create her own Fashion and Design School. Years later she immigrated to the United States and continued to gain experience in her field as Alterations Manager of David’s Bridal in Amarillo for approximately 12 years. She dreamed of having her own business. In 2014 she establishes Margarita’s Elegant Stitch and Alterations where she had the wonderful experience to serve her community doing high quality alterations for all occasions. While all her dreams were a manifestation and she was joyfully doing what she loved, she was conquering many battles with cancer. We are Thankful with God for granting her precious time with her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She had a life full of joy, love, graciousness. She believed in the Lord, with a very strong Catholic Faith that she transferred to her family. She made sure we all learned that God is the essence of all we are and all we do. She was a pioneer woman not only with her family, but also professionally and as a child of God. In the late 80’s she helped build a new Church building in Acapulco, Guerrero along with a committee of parishioners. A beautiful Church was built, were her children learned about God. Margarita was an incredible, remarkable women. She was proud of her heritage, and she made sure she followed those traditions to teach the younger generations. Margarita enjoyed her family, her friends, her passion for sewing, she was delighted always to serve others. She liked music, dancing, sewing, embroidery, the beach in her lovely Acapulco and of course cooking for her family. She created precious memories and shared her wisdom with everyone. Margarita fought hard, with courage and bravery in every battle she encountered. She won each one-off of them. She was proud of who she was and proud of her family and her traditions. She was indeed a God’s lover, a Family lover and a big-hearted giver. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her Father Rafael Acuna, her sister Leticia Acuna Hernandez, her Grandparents Justina Ramirez, Juan Hernandez, Aldegunda Lagunas, Candido Acuna

Survivors include her husband Jesus Vargas Sr., Son Jesus Vargas Jr., her daughter Maria Isabel Pena, her daughter Esmeralda Vargas, her son Epifanio Pena, her grand-children Genesis Abigail Vargas, Trinity Vargas, Ibrahim Pena, her Mother Fermina Hernandez-Shoop, her brother Rafael Hernandez, her sisters Marivel Rogers and Alma Farr.

Margarita requested that anyone that accompany her during her funeral services, celebrate her life and her faith in God by not wearing black and dark colors. Her favorite color was green.

A Rosary will be held from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
