Maria Elena Prieto, 81, of Amarillo, TX passed away on April 20, 2022.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M., Friday, April 22, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at St. Laurence Catholic Church with Father Taylor Elzner as celebrant. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Maria was born in Satevó, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 2, 1940, to Pedro Prieto and Mercedes Carrasco. She married her husband, Isabel Ruiz, on July 7, 1967. Maria was a loving mother and grandmother. Her grandkids were her entire world. She loved plants, cooking, spending time with her family, and telling stories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and grandparents.
Survivors include her husband, Isabel Ruiz; daughter, Blanca Lili Rivero and husband Ramon Rivero; son, Jorge Ruiz and wife Paty Ruiz; daughter, Isabel Valles and husband Mario Valles; grandkids, Daniela Garay and husband Marco Garay, Jorge Ruiz Jr., Erick Rivero, Leslie Ruiz and husband Othoniel Gutierrez, Cristian Valles, Ricardo Rivero, and Yahir Ruiz; great-grandkids, Jorge Ruiz Jr., and Mateo Gutierrez; brother, Jose Prieto and wife Josefina Prieto; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
