Marilynn Louise Carducci passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 22, 2022, in Amarillo, TX.

Marilynn was born 90 years ago on May 6, 1932, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Marilynn moved to Amarillo with her entire family in 1979. For the next 35 years, she worked with her family in the restaurant business. Many people knew her from the Great Escape and Marty’s Restaurant. Marilynn could be found at the front door with a warm smile as she greeted customers. Her favorite part of working at the restaurant was visiting with the guests and regulars whom she became friends with over the years. She looked forward to Friday and Saturday nights when the band was playing, and her regulars would show up for dinner. She loved visiting with her many friends in the restaurant but more than anything, she loved spending time with her family. Marilynn was always present and lived life fully with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved being at family gatherings. Her absolute favorite was Christmas Eve when everyone from employees, customers, and family were all invited to her house to celebrate with plenty of food and drink.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her one and only love, her husband Clemente who passed away in 1982.

She is survived by her three children, Michael Carducci and wife Pat, James Carducci, and Karen Davenport and husband Chris, all of Amarillo, TX; and grandchildren, Michael Carducci Jr., of Amarillo, TX, Kim Meltzer and husband David, of Frisco, TX, Kristi Glisson and husband Michael, Matt Davenport and fiancée Taylor Fore, James Carducci and wife Crysta, and Wendy Mcalister and husband Jamie, all of Amarillo, TX. She was also very proud of each and every one of her great-grandchildren, Miles and Mason Meltzer, Nick Carducci, Riley, Kaiden and Browning Glisson, Braxton Davenport, James and Alora Carducci, and Hallie and Saylor Mcalister.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. 1. What a joyful gift Mrs. Carducci has ALWAYS been in our lives. Our longtime client with great ideas and hospitality flowing in all she did.
I always did whatever she instructed (that motherly way of hers). The photo you selected of her here, is SO her: that intent look into your soul she’d give and she truly listened to every word. Yet, when SHE spoke? Yes, you listened!! Mike, I’m so glad we got to chat recently at the PO about her and hope you gave her my hug. Thank you all for sharing your mom and family with me. Love DJ

  2. Mike,Pat,Jimmy and Karen Our deepest condolences go out to your family of the passing of Marilyn. Your Mom was like having another Mother to me.
