Mark Alan McQueen, 64, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 13, 2020 at his home.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Mark was born on February 18, 1956 in Canyon, TX to the late E.L. and Kay McQueen.

Mark was a proud Memphis Cyclone and graduated in 1974. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin.  In 1977, he moved to Amarillo and shortly thereafter married the love of his life Sondra Elem.  Some may remember Mark as a radio disc jockey under the call name “B.B. McQueen”.  Ultimately, he began a career at Binswanger Glass Co where he worked until his death.

He enjoyed good music, fishing and college football.  Mark loved to laugh and have a good time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.L. and Kay McQueen, and his daughter, Chelsea McQueen. He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra McQueen of Amarillo; brother, Max McQueen; son, Jacob McQueen; grandchildren, Jude and Kaydance McQueen, and many friends.

  1. Crazy dude and we had some great times together back at MHS. Last time I saw him was when he was a DJ at KBGH. He dedicated a song by Leon Russell to me as I was driving out of town. Remembering it to this day. RIP pal!

  2. I worked with Mark way back in the day when we were wild and crazy kids playing radio on KBUY. He was funny, talented and a joy to work with – and always had a great smile.   3. Such great times with Mark walking to my house to shoot hoops, many times with lights on, as we continued well after dark. Also, what a fun summer at WTSU when Mark, Eddie, I were all there together. So many wonderful memories of a fun, funny, full of life, amazing friend. Now dazzle heaven with your signature megawatt smile!

  6. This is really a sad passing but he is in a better place today. My thoughts and prayers are with Sondra and the family. Although Mark and I didn’t talk as much over the last few years I was always felt like we were part of an extended family of friends and co-workers that all started back in the early 80’s. Mark will be missed.

  7. Mark was a great friend to me growing up. We were closer than brothers. I have many fond memories of all our times together. I truly regret losing touch in our audit lives. Goodbye old friend. Sondra my heart goes out to you Jake and Max. God bless you.

  11. Mark was a great friend growing up in Memphis had lots of fun riding dirt bikes and hanging out ,he was always happy ,great memories
