Mark Alton Farrington

Mark Alton Farrington, 66, of Amarillo, TX succumbed after a two-year battle with cancer on December 19, 2022, as a Hospice patient.

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps” Proverbs 16:9. Since 1994, Mark Alton Farrington was duly aware that God had intervened in his “steps.” The crossroads would influence his answering the call on his life.

“Good people come from small towns” applied to Mark, who established early, happy memories in the town of Canadian. As the son of Vernie and Bette Farrington, any “behavior” was reported with a simple phone call home – no secrets in a small town.

In 1994, Mark made two life-changing decisions. He married a Borger High School teacher, and he returned to academia for a career change from employment in the oil industry. He became a husband and a Paramedic in 1994. Later, in 1999, he graduated from Amarillo College with an ADN as a Registered Nurse. His skill-set broadened as an EMS Paramedic and as a RN in Emergency Room settings at Borger’s Golden Plains Hospital and NWT Hospital in Amarillo. His employment with Amarillo BSA was from 2007-20022, primarily at Physicians Surgical Hospital at Quail Creek. Faith, family, and nursing were what he loved most.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Vernie A. Farrington. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nancy Farrington; mother, Bette Kramer; step-father, Merle Kramer; son and daughter-in-law, Nathan Farrington and wife Jaime; granddaughter, Charisma Farrington; daughters, Amanda Farrington and Samantha Farrington; step-children, Hillary Yildez and husband Illhan, and Cortney Goodwin; brother, Kevin Farrington and wife Sandra; step-sister, Rita Kramer; step-brother, Marvin and Sherri Kramer; brothers-in-law, James Williams and wife Cyndi, and Monte Williams and wife Kelli.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, December 29
