Mary Edmondson Rigdon

Mary Edmondson Rigdon, 78, of Graham, TX went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2020.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mary was born May 28, 1941, in Groom, TX to Woodrow and Lela Edmonson.  She had a twenty-two career at Pantex, working there from 1974-1996.

She married Ron Rigdon on January 7, 1983.

Mary’s greatest treasure was being with family.  Mary loved her husband, Ron Rigdon with a passion.  They were soulmates, best friends, and life partners.  She loved her daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and Marty Johnson, and Robyn and Curt Bailey.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Julie Johnson Pianalto and husband Joey, and their children, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Ellie and Emmie; Bryan Johnson and wife Charmane and their children Isla and Asa.  Jentry Jurado Pruitt and husband Steven and their children Maelie and Mace, and Nic Bailey; a brother, James R. Edmondson and wife Linda; sister-in-law, Paula White; brother-in-law, J.C. Essary; and many nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Mary enjoyed fishing with her family and friends at Possum Kingdom Lake.  She also loved listening and dancing to Merle Haggard, bowling, and had been a member of the Amarillo Bowling Association.

She was the life of the party and had a contagious laugh.  She loved people and never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph White and Mike Edmondson; and two sisters, Gloria Harvell and Elaine Essary.

Special thanks to the nurses at Interim Hospice.  Mary was cared for at home by her loving family until she passed.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

  4. Jamie and Robyn,
Some of the best memories I have are hanging out on Roosevelt street and your mom giving me a hard time just as I was one of her own . But in a way alot of us kids were her own. She showed us love and I loved her too. Aunt Mary as we called her was a 2nd mom to us all. Prayers for yall and the family . Love you all.

  5. Such a beautiful honest tribute to Mary and her beautiful family. So true she was the life of the party. All the times we played cards and had drinks at her house are some of my favorite memories. Our sympathies but we know Mary is healed now and deserves to be with her lord. Love you all. Brad and Debbie

  6. Jamie and Robyn,
I’d like you both to know that you, and all your family, are in my thoughts and prayers. Jamie – we just talked about Mary at our 40th HS Reunion, amazing. I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know your mother for many years at Pantex. Mary was given a manager’s position in a “men’s world” at that time in the plant (80’s -). She persevered, broke the glass ceiling, and set the benchmark for others that followed. As with you, it was an extreme honor to meet and know your mother.
    God Bless,
    Howard E. Allen

  7. Prayers for all those that Mary touched. She is and will be missed by so many. My love and condolences go out to all the family! ❤❤❤

  8. Mary always had a hug and kiss for me when I visited my Mom and Dad at PK. I always listened for her to ring the bell during Texas Rangers games. I will miss her!

  9. Bryan and family,
So sorry for the loss of your Grandmother. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
    God Bless
