Mary Estelle Daniel, 99, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on January 16, 2023.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 20, 2023, at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mary was born in Quitaque, Texas on January 8, 1924, to Mary Ella Bass and James Elmore Roden. Mary attended school in Turkey, TX, before her family moved to Shamrock, TX, where she graduated High School in 1942. She was the Drum Major for the Shamrock Fighting Irish Band in 1941/1942. She married the love of her life, T. M. Daniel on October 17, 1942, in Sayre, Oklahoma when he was home on leave from the Army. Mary and T.M. Moved to Fayetteville, NC, while TM was serving at Fort Brag When he was sent to France, Germany, and Czechoslovakia in 1944 she returned to Shamrock to live with her family. TM returned from Europe in 1945 and they took up residence in San Antonio while TM served at Fort Sam Houston. When he was honorably discharged in 1946, they went back to Shamrock. Mary worked in the family restaurant business until having a son in 1950 and a daughter in 1960. While raising children, they lived in Dumas, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and finally Amarillo, Tx. TM passed away in 2002.  In 2006 Mary moved to Wyoming to spend more time with her son and his family. In 2008 she moved to Corpus Christi to spend more time with her daughter and her family. She returned to Wyoming in 2012 where she lived until her death. She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, singing with Sweet Adeline’s, watching her children and grands and greats play sports, Eastern Star, and caring for her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents (James Elmore Roden, 1961; Mary Ella Bass Roden, 1993); her sisters (Wilma Roden Arnold 2004; Juanita Roden Blake 1996; Wanda Roden Thaxton 2009); her husband (TM Daniel 2202) and her daughter (Mary Denise Daniel Hill Alvarez 2017).

She is survived by her son Thomas Marion Daniel, Junior (Jenny Noe Daniel), her daughter’s surviving husband Benito Alvarez, Grandchildren Kristina Lynn Daniel Jones Powers, Matthew Clayton Daniel (Sheri Quarnberg Daniel), John Wayne Hill (Megan Flynn Hill), Thomas Noah Daniel; great-grandchildren Shelby Wood, Jesse Jones, Tyler Daniel, Alexandra Jones, Courtney Daniel,

Bryan Daniel

and Hunter Daniel,

Ryan Hill, Jace Hill, Ryker Hill, and Magnolia Denise Hill,

Her first great-great-grandson is expected in February.

While being a true southern lady she was still a Texas tornado.
