Services were held in Amarillo, TX under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mary was born on August 10, 1942 in Hollister, California.  Mary lived in various states initially settling in Lamesa, TX and finally making her home in Amarillo, TX in 1968.  After her move to Amarillo, she met and married Lou Lopez and they had 2 daughters.

Mary was a faithful and dedicated Catholic and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Amarillo, TX.  She worked for Levi Strauss in Amarillo, leaving only to be a full-time homemaker.  In the 1970s, you could find her on the strip at the Amarillo Dragway racing her Green 1973 Ford Maverick. She was a force to be reckoned with on the ¼ mile as she won several trophies.  She eventually left the drag strip to enjoy raising her 2 daughters, involved in their education and would volunteer at school.  She always said her favorite pictures of her girls were their graduation pictures. She was a Notre Dame Mom and became a strong Fighting Irish fan. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, participating in car shows, traveling, visiting family and friends and once she became a grandmother, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matias Grimaldo and Clara L. Grimaldo and her brothers Jesse, Ruben, Juan, Mathew, Andres and George and her husband Lou Lopez.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Lucy Lopez of Amarillo, TX and Linda Lopez of Amarillo, TX; two brothers Joe Grimaldo of Texas and Pablo Grimaldo of Texas; 3 grandchildren, Rey Perez, Selena Perez, and Ruben Perez of Amarillo, TX; extended grandchildren Kirsten Williams, RJ Iruegas, Cyrus Zarate, Kira Zarate, Emma Rose Zarate, and Jasper Gonzales; best friends over 54 years Lydia Zarate of Amarillo, TX and Mickey Dimas of Amarillo, TX.; several relatives and friends.
