Mary L. Smith, 81, of Stratford, Texas died on September 10, 2023.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Stratford Cemetery with Thomas Miller as officiant. Family will receive friends following the service at 1208 NW 2nd St, in Stratford. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors at Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Mary was born on January 11, 1942 in Guymon, OK to Eugene and Lorraine Livingston. She married James Smith on October 25, 1963 in Keyes, Oklahoma. Mary worked alongside her husband, Jim helping run their family business, Smith & Smith Water Wells. She was also a very active servant of God and others and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Mary loved to volunteer with taking on large interior renovations for friends and family homes. From carpentry, painting, and installing floors. Mary also enjoyed going to nursing homes to spread the word of God.
She is preceded in death by her husband James E. Smith.
Mary is survived by a son, Cary Smith and wife Laura; two daughters, Brenda Cromer and husband Aaron and Cindy Smith; brother, Gene Livingston; twin-sister, Marie Williams; sister, JoAnn Cochran; seven grandchildren, Kristin, Chad, Justin, Jared, Ryan, Adrian, and Andria; sixteen great grandchildren; and 1 grand cat, Gus.
RIP sweet classmate of l960. Many memories of Mary in school and church. She was always so kind and pleasant. A good friend. Prayers of comfort and strength for her family.
Oh how I loved growing up with Mary as my second mom! She taught me how to laugh, love, and work hard. She loved hard, loved her Lord, and was devoted to her children.
