MaShaun Shari Jones 51, was called home on May 6, 2023, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

MaShaun was born on August 24, 1971, to Jerry and Debra Morris in Amarillo, TX. MaShaun lived in Amarillo, TX most of her life. When she was younger she used to move around often even though she hated the moving part she loved the new experiences especially all the different animals she got to encounter throughout her childhood. She absolutely loved telling anyone her stories and experiences. As a young adult, she found way her back home to Amarillo where she planted roots and lived for the remainder of her life. MaShaun brought so much joy to everyone around her and could cheer anyone up in just a snap of her fingers. Nothing brought her more joy than when she became a grandmother. She would always tell everyone “if she could’ve had grandchildren first she would’ve”. Serinity and her were two peas in a pod there wasn’t very many places or very many times you would find MaShaun without her little sidekick. MaShaun was a very strong-willed woman that refused to let whatever life threw at her get her down even in 2017 when she was diagnosed with advanced-stage ovarian cancer. She fought very hard and head-on until the very end. She never let her illness bring her down or keep her from living. She fought for four years knocking her cancer into remission each time. MaShaun was such an amazing soul and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by both grandparents George “PawPaw” and Melba “mawmaw” Fincher both of Devol, Ok. Her father Jerry Lynn Morris of Amarillo Tx. Her son David Albert Cates III of Lavaca, Ar.

At the request of MaShaun there will be no service at this time however the family will be having a private celebration of life ceremony, family and friends will be notified at a later date.
