Matthew Paul Rule, 24, of Santa Ana, CA died unexpectedly, Monday, July 11, 2022.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 25, 2022, at Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Rd, Amarillo, TX with his uncle Ruede Rule officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Matthew was born on February 3, 1998 and grew up in Amarillo.  He attended Gene Howe Elementary, Greenways Intermediate, Westover Jr. High, and Randall High School making lifelong friends at each of the schools he attended.  As a child Matthew was always curious and had no fear of trying new things.  This trait carried on into his brief adult life.  Matthew never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went.  He loved skateboarding and would spend many hours hanging out with his friends at the skatepark trying out new tricks.  Another interest was gaming, and he would sometimes stay up around the clock playing games online and in person with his friends.  Matthew always enjoyed spending time with his friends just hanging out, talking, laughing, listening to music, creating lasting memories.

Matthew was a creative soul.  He loved to draw and would give his drawings as gifts to others.  In addition, he loved mixing and creating music.  You could often catch him listening to music with a spiral notebook, taking notes about how he would mix different songs.  Music was always a part of his life and served as a calming grounding stone.

Seeking a new adventure, Matthew moved to California in 2017 and began living his adult life, hoping to pursue his goal of making music.  He worked for a real estate company helping to stage homes for viewing, in the entertainment industry rigging stages for events, and contract work for a construction company.

Matthew loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them whether it was a family vacation or just a gathering at home.  Many unforgettable memories filled with laughter and mischievousness were created by him.

Matthew had an extensive sneaker collection. As a tribute to him, the family suggests attendees to his funeral wear their best pair of sneakers.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ray Gilmore Jr., his grandmothers, Rosie Escamilla and Mildred Edmonds, his grandfather Jim Rule, and his aunt Celia Escamilla.
