Mauro Hernandez Medrano, 76, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Manny De Los Santos of Power Church officiating.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mauro was born April 8, 1945, in Bremond, TX to Gonzalo and Juana Medrano.  He loved his family, westerns (especially John Wayne movies), Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.  Born in ’45, the end of the silent era, he loved the old ways of things.  He was a coin collector, fishing, and loved a good game of cards (especially if he could take everyone’s money).  He had a sweet tooth, loved cookouts, and was a good provider for his family.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Medrano.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Medrano; children, Monique Robinson, of California, Mauro Medrano Jr. of Amarillo, TX, Jerry Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, Christina Medrano, of Lubbock, TX, Joe Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, Johnny Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, Andy Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, Betty Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, Michael Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, Eric Medrano, of Amarillo, TX, and Cristal Medrano, of Amarillo, TX; forty-five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

  3. The sky is endless and the good lord has received an amazing angel in his home. Gone although never forgotten. To the one man that always made me feel welcomed in his home. You will be very missed. It was a pleasure to have known such an amazing person and such a beautiful family in Amarillo Texas. Thank you for you kindness to my children and myself.
